Membership information

The fee is $25 for memberships entered from January 1st to June 30th and $12.50 for memberships entered from July 1st to December 31st. Your membership not only supports the club, but also entitles you to fly for free at our model rocket launches (normally $3) and with reduced or waived launch fees at our high-power launches. (High-power launch fees are set per launch and can depend on whether the club incurs additional expense to hold the launch, such as for restroom facilities; typically the fee is $10.)

To make things easier for families we offer a family membership at the same fee as an individual membership. This membership will cover all of your family members (spouse and children under 18) as members of SLRA. When you come to fly at high power launches, your family will be covered under one launch fee for spouse and children under 18. You can come to a high power launch as a spectator for free.

To start a family membership, an adult parent or guardian just needs to fill out the membership form with their information and sign as the responsible party in the signature box near the bottom of the form.  Our insurance requires that an adult parent or guardian sign for under 18 family members.  That's all you need to do. You can create a web site account and it will be upgraded to member status, or you can choose to have multiple club accounts for each of your family members.  If you want, an account can be also created after submission of the membership form and a password will be sent by email.

Thanks and Welcome to SLRA!

I am new to the SLRA so I’ll ask around. According to the info I have you need to be 18 years are older to be able to licensed to fly High Power Rockets (engines H-I for level 1, J-K-L for level 2, and M-N-O for level 3). To fly Model Rockets (engines 1/4 A, 1/2 A, A-B-C-D-E-F-G) you can be under age 18. Although I think you need to be age 18 to purchase E-F-G engines. So I believe you can be younger than age 18 to join SLRA, although if a parent are guardian joins on your behalf, you are covered thru them.
