Buder Park Event Announcements (August 13 launch and GSLMA Air Show)

We have two announcements from last night's meeting to share.

First announcement: Our regular monthly launch is scheduled for this coming Saturday (August 13) at Buder Park, weather permitting. Mike Fischer will be running this launch, and the setup time is 8:00 am. If you can arrive a bit early and stay a bit afterwards to help set up and take down the launch equipment, it is always appreciated. The current weather forecast predicts a significant chance of rain on Saturday, so please check the website and/or your email for a cancellation announcement before you make the trip to the park.

For the foreseeable future, we will be setting up our launch pad in the southern half of the park, upwind of the radio control aircraft runways, to avoid interfering with use of the athletic fields in the northern part of the park. Furthermore, if there is an activity taking place on the field adjacent to our launch location (e.g., we are launching from the southeast corner of the park and there is a baseball game on the diamond in the northeast corner), our launch will be restricted to D or smaller motors to remain in compliance with the NAR Safety Code. Please refer to the attached Buder Park map and cooperate with the Range Safety Officer (the person running the launch) if this call needs to be made.

Second announcement: The Greater St. Louis Model Association (GSLMA) have invited us to participate in their annual Air Show on September 17th and 18th. Mike Fischer has stepped up yet again to arrange a static display and demonstration launch for this event. If you are interested in helping out, please email admin@stlouisrocketry.com and I will put you in touch with Mike.

If you have any questions about either of these events, please email admin@stlouisrocketry.com.

High-power launch in Walnut Grove

In addition to our local model rocket launch, we have this cordial invitation from Tripoli MO/Kan prefect Marty Cox for their launch Saturday at the Teeniemunde launch site near Walnut Grove, MO.

Hi everyone.

Saturday is the normally scheduled Teeniemunde club launch in Walnut Grove for June. NAR members are welcome but as a TRA sanctioned launch we will be flying under Tripoli rules and research motors will be allowed to be flown by TRA members. The waiver will be open from 12:00 until 5:00.

The weather promises to be hot, hot , hot so bring a pop up shelter, lots of sunscreen and plenty of water. Set up begins at 11:30 and extra hands are always appreciated.

One other item. We have been relying on Gary Cole to supply most of the launch equipment for our recent launches but Gary is unable to attend this launch. The club equipment in my possession will cover most of our needs but we are a little short on launch pads, mostly low power. If you own any launch pads and plan to attend the launch please consider bringing them with you Saturday.

Thank you.

Marty

If you have any questions, please contact John Buckley (jbuckley1996@gmail.com) or Marty Cox (astromarty@aol.com).

Buder Park launch this Saturday

This is a reminder that the monthly model rocket launch for June is scheduled for this Saturday, June 18, at Buder Park (see the events calendar for details and directions).

Since the weather has warmed up again, we are returning to our regular 8:00 am setup time with the goal of getting some good flying time in before it gets unbearably hot. The range will stay open for as long as people are there with rockets to fly, so please plan accordingly! If you arrive at 11:00 or later, you might find us already packing up if we've had a light turnout early.

The weather forecast looks good right now, but as always, please check the website for status on Saturday morning before heading for the park. And remember your sunscreen and drinking water, along with your rockets!
